Aviation Team Member

Jon has 35 years of aviation experience, 25 of which have been in South Africa. He is rated as a pilot and instructor on 48 different aircraft and has amassed approximately 25,000 landings.

He has held senior management roles in numerous aviation organisations, including Base Manager, Senior Pilot, Chief Flight Instructor, and Quality Manager. His management and oversight expertise spans AOCs, AMOs, ATOs, and Part 138 medical operations, with a particular focus on flight training. In recent years, his work has centred on driving transformation in the aviation sector, especially securing funding to train pilots from previously disadvantaged backgrounds.

In 2020, Jon pioneered a groundbreaking programme introducing aviation pilot training into high schools as an elective subject, aimed at exposing learners from underprivileged backgrounds to aviation.

As a SACAA-approved Designated Flight Examiner, he has conducted more than 1,000 flight tests for Airline Transport, Commercial, and Flight Instructor licence holders.
